Just Wow!!!
It is unbelievable. Here we are with our website up and running and already I have donations. I am supposed to set a goal so I am thinking of what is realistic and do I really need to be realistic?Should I just reach for the stars?
I can't thank my favorite oldest son enough for all his hard work on setting this up and his good friend for helping helping sort it out. I know nothing about computer language. My son used to tell me "garbage in, garbage out". That means if you screw up then the computer screws up!!! I did that a lot until I decided to leave it to the experts.
Enough of that, now back to goal setting. The sun was shining and as I was looking out the window at work I thought what a great day for a ride.
Dave managed to do 60 K today. I am so jealous!
Until next time....Maxine

Go for it!
Sounds like you'll have a blast.
I did an 8800 km solo trip in 1985 from Florida to Oregon, and a 7300 km solo trip in 1999 around the US West (California to Colorado, and back west to Washington). Some advice (from my point of view, of course):
Depending on your personalities, though, you may want to allow yourself some flexibility as to schedule.
I read your route plan, and noticed that you were specifying specific days. Don't take that too seriously, if you have some time to be flexible! Leave extra time so if you find somewhere worth looking around, or people with whom you'd like to visit for a while, or if you just need a few days to rest you won't feel bad about it.
Also, be prepared for deciding to take alternative routes when necessary (though there are probably fewer choices across Canada than in the eastern US).
Realize, too, that training is probably largely unnecessary. If you can do 100 km unloaded comfortably, that's probably fine. Allow for the considerable time that camping can take. Luckily, you'll have long days. Just listen to your bodies, especially at first, and stop when you start to feel tired. After a week or so you'll be used to your pace, and will have gotten stronger as well.
And don't think that you have to have campgrounds. There's lots of opportunities to do camping away from the noise and cars of campgrounds. Give yourself a treat and take a back road (preferably dirt!) from time to time and camp where there are no cars. If you're cooking, you can always cook somewhere near water, then ride till you find a place to camp. They don't have to be done at the same time. Similarly for showers!
Another suggestion: join the Warm Showers List http://www.rogergravel.com/wsl/vh_for_a.html ; this is a list of people who are willing to provide accomodations to touring cyclists. There are 183 people from Canada on this list. You'll have lots more fun staying with them than in campgrounds!

I hope you two have a great ride. A trip like that sounds like fun, with alot of work for a good cause.
Best Wishes,
Denny
